During his 41 years of service in the IDF, Eisenkot held several key positions, including Military Secretary to two prime ministers, commander of the Judea and Samaria Division during the Second Intifada, head of the Operations Directorate, commander of Northern Command, and Deputy Chief of Staff. In 2015, he became the IDF's 21st Chief of Staff.<\/p><p style=\"direction: ltr;\">While serving as commander of Northern Command and head of the Operations Directorate after the Second Lebanon War, Eisenkot conceived the \u201cDahiya Doctrine.\u201d Under this doctrine, Israel would respond disproportionately to infrastructure used by the Hezbollah terrorist organization in the event of a confrontation.<\/p><p style=\"direction: ltr;\">As Chief of Staff, Eisenkot introduced a policy governing the use of force in overt and covert operations across the Middle East, securing significant advantages for the State of Israel. In 2015, he took action to halt the wave of knife attacks in Judea and Samaria and address the threat posed by attack tunnels along the Gaza periphery and the northern border. At the same time, he advanced the multi-year \u201cGideon\u201d plan to strengthen IDF capabilities on land, in the air, at sea, and in the intelligence and cyber domains.<\/p><p style=\"direction: ltr;\">After leaving the IDF, Eisenkot served as chairman of the Ben-Gurion Heritage Institute, which is dedicated to preserving Ben-Gurion's legacy and developing the Negev. He also held positions in the private sector.<\/p><p style=\"direction: ltr;\">In 2022, Eisenkot was elected to the 25th Knesset. In August 2023, while serving on the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, he warned that the government's conduct and the country's deep social divisions were eroding Israeli deterrence and weakening Israel's regional standing.<\/p><p style=\"direction: ltr;\">Following the October 7 massacre, Eisenkot served as a minister in the War Cabinet during a period of national crisis. He worked to define and achieve the war's objectives, including securing the hostages' return and dismantling Hamas and Hezbollah.<\/p><p style=\"direction: ltr;\">In 2025 Eisenkot founded the Yashar! party as a credible governing alternative intended to return Israel to its path and safeguard its future as a Jewish, democratic, secure and powerful state, in the spirit of the Declaration of Independence.<\/p><p style=\"direction: ltr;\">Eisenkot is married to Hana and is the father of five children: Guy, Rotem, Yael, Vered and Gal (of blessed memory). The Eisenkot family lost Gal in battle in Jabalia on December 7, 2023, during an operation to recover the bodies of hostages in the Gaza Strip. He is CEO of the Kfar Aza Recovery Fund and formerly served as Director of the Soroka Medical Center Recovery Project. Since October 7, he has devoted most of his work to rebuilding communities and institutions affected by the war and helping them create a new future.<\/p><p style=\"direction: ltr;\">Two days after the massacre, Futerman joined the evacuated Kfar Aza community at Kibbutz Shefayim and began working alongside its members. He was subsequently appointed CEO of the Kfar Aza Recovery Fund and has since led the community\u2019s rehabilitation and long-term renewal &#8211; from returning residents to their homes and rebuilding infrastructure and communal spaces to addressing education, welfare and mental health and laying the foundations for the kibbutz\u2019s future growth.<\/p><p style=\"direction: ltr;\">At the same time, Futerman directed the recovery project at Soroka Medical Center after the hospital was damaged during the war, contributing to the restoration and strengthening of the Negev\u2019s principal medical center.<\/p><p style=\"direction: ltr;\">Alongside his work with Kfar Aza and Soroka, he has participated in recovery and assistance efforts for other affected communities in northern and southern Israel, including Zikim, Sa\u2019ad and Netiv HaAsara, as well as mental-health programs in the Upper Galilee.<\/p><p style=\"direction: ltr;\">Before the war, Futerman devoted many years to education and social initiatives. He founded and directed TALMA &#8211; the Israel Program for Excellence in English &#8211; a national educational program operating in dozens of local authorities to strengthen education and reduce inequality. He served as secretary of the Dorner Committee, which examined Israel\u2019s special-education system, and as CEO of Keren Hayesod.<\/p><p style=\"direction: ltr;\">Futerman was twice named one of the 50 most influential Jews in the world by The Jerusalem Post. In 2018, he was included in its list of 40 influential young leaders under the age of 40 (Globes).<\/p><p style=\"direction: ltr;\">A leading figure in Israeli education and social action, Futerman brings extensive experience in management, institutional leadership and complex recovery processes. He is a member of Yashar!\u2019s policy team developing a plan for the recovery and long-term prosperity of southern Israel.
